“The Birds Are Chirping Above the Tree” — a phrase that carries the soft echoes of childhood, the first whispers of language, and the profound connection between words, images, and memory, as reflected in the artist Hamid Zénati’s very first Arabic lesson, learned in Algeria.
The Kamel Lazaar Foundation and the Hamid Zénati Estate, with the support of the Goethe-Institut Tunis are thrilled to present The Birds Are Chirping Above the Tree, a captivating retrospective exhibition celebrating the audacious and visionary world of Hamid Zénati (1944–2022) at B7L9 Art Centre. The vernissage will take place on Friday, April 18 at 6:00 PM, and the exhibition will run until July 20, 2025. This exhibition brings together a rare collection of the artist’s works in dialogue with key pieces from the Kamel Lazaar Foundation collection and renowned artists whose works resonate deeply with those of Zénati.
This exhibition invites you to dive into Zénati’s boundless universe — a world where vivid hues, intricate patterns, and rebellious surfaces come together to create an emotional journey through resistance, hope, and transformation.

"الزواويش تزقزق فوق الشجرة"
معرض شامل، الأول من نوعه في شمال إفريقيا تكريماً للفنان الجزائري حميد زناتي (1944 - 2022)
"الزواويش تزقزق فوق الشجرة" هو عنوان نص كان معتمداً في كتب تعليم الصغار في الجزائر. وهو تعبير يحمل صدى طفولة الفنان الجزائري-الألماني، حميد زناتي، وهمسات أولى دروس اللغة العربية التي تلقاها في بلاده. وشوشات كانت تطفو على سطح ذاكرته كهلاً تشي بالترابط الوثيق بين الكلمات والصور والناس والأحداث، بحلوها ومرّها.
تتشرف مؤسسة كمال الأزعر، ومؤسسة حميد زناتي، وبدعم من معهد غوته - تونس، بتقديم معرض "الزواويش تزقزق فوق الشجرة"، احتفاءً بحميد زناتي وعالمه الابداعي المتميز، وذلك في مركز الفنون B7L9.
يُفتتح المعرض يوم الجمعة 18 أفريل مع الساعة السادسة مساءً، ويتواصل حتى 20 جويلية 2025.
يضم هذا المعرض مجموعة نادرة من أعمال الفنان، إلى جانب قطع مختارة من مجموعة مؤسسة كمال الأزعر، وأعمال لفنانين بارزين تتناغم بعمق مع إبداعات زناتي.
يدعوكم المعرض لاكتشاف عالم حميد زناتي اللامحدود. عالم تتراقص فيه الألوان النابضة وتتداخل الأحلام والرموز في رحلة حسية تستحضر مسيرة الإنسان تأصيلا للكيان وجودا ومعنى.
