BILLY STRAYHORN PROJECT: Celebrating the Life, Legacy and Music of Billy Strayhorn
About this Event

The BILLY STRAYHORN PROJECT is an evening of music celebrating the life and legacy of Billy Strayhorn, considered one the greatest arrangers, composers, lyricists and pianists of the 20th century, and the creative genius behind such great songs as TAKE THE "A" TRAIN, LOTUS BLOSSOM and LUSH LIFE.

The evening coincides with the annual birthday tributes to Billy Strayhorn (November 29, 1915 - May 31, 1967) and features host and "velvety-voiced-vocalist" Tyrone Brown with the Dave Posmontier Trio - Dave Posmontier (piano), Dave Brodie (bass) and Doug Hirlinger (drums).

One (1) performance only. MONDAY, NOVEMBER 29, 2021 at 8:30pm at the OUR HOUSE CULTURE CENTER, located at 6380 Germantown Avenue. *Please note that the City of Philadelphia has reinstated an indoor mask requirement for all audience members.

Looking forward to "seeing you and yours" on Monday, November 29th for what promises to be a loving celebration of the man musician Duke Ellington called “my right arm, my left arm … my brainwaves in his head, and his in mine.”
