Inspired by a classic 1960s photo-book, The Bikeriders follows the rise of the fictionalised Vandals motorcycle club. Kathy Bauer’s life becomes entwined with the club when she falls for Benny, the brooding young protégé of club leader Johnny. When new members push the Vandals in a more violent direction, Benny must decide whether he has a place in the new iteration of the club. Concerns over Benny’s future also set Kathy on a collision course with the increasingly volatile Johnny, who’s taking extreme measures to assert his control.Director Jeff Nichols’ proudly old-school drama manages the difficult trick of being both propulsive and contemplative, with extraordinary and multi-layered performances from stars Jodie Comer, Tom Hardy and Austin Butler.
