Overview: This challenging 10 mile stair- walk climbs the 12 biggest stairways in Silver Lake, each with more than 190 steps. The total climb is 2,540 feet, with 3,019 total up steps on the 12 bigs, plus five other smaller stairways that are along the route. I have allowed extra time for a restroom break at the Pollen restaurant at 4.2 miles, and an extended mid-walk stop at Fletcher and Glendale at 6 miles. This mid-walk stop was done as a lunch stop in previous years, so we will see if event walkers want a longer (1 hour) or shorter (half hour) stop at this point in the walk.
Please note that this walk is harder than the hardest LA Loop half segment, I1 which climbed just over 2,700 up-steps in the same distance. or another way to think about it is that it is about 3 times harder than the PV Crest Loop! So please do not try this walk as your first stair-walk! This walk is for people who have done a lot of stair-walking, such as the hardest LA Loop segments, and have the fitness level to climb multiple very large (200+ step) stairways in a single 10 mile walk.
