Free Community Event with Mandy from Somerset Wildlife Trust,
Friends of the Meads, Seed of Hope and WWT
Did you know, frogs and toads (and all amphibians actually) are considered an "indicator species”?
Since they absorb water directly through their skin, they're especially vulnerable to water pollutants like pesticides and one of the first to be affected by degradation of the environment and the impacts of climate change.
So it’s important to do a spawn count to collect important data on the location of breeding frogs and toads. So we can monitor how they are doing.
Please wear suitable clothing and footwear, as we will be going onto the Meads, as surfaces can be wet and uneven.
Children need to be accompanied by an Adult or Adults.
The count is part of the Great Somerset Wildlife Count - a community science initiative
