Bevan Manson is an accomplished composer and pianist who
has received composing and arranging commissions from the
San Francisco Symphony, Sierra Chamber Music, Channel Islands
Chamber Orchestra, Pacific Philharmonic Foundation, among others.
Bevan has performed with such jazz artists as Jimmy Guiffre, Cecil
McBee, George Garzone, Ron Jones L.A. Big Band, Tierney Sutton,
Frenchie Pacowski, Ira Sullivan, and his own trios and sextets. His
latest album When the Cup is Lifted (2025) features members of
the Hollywood Studio Symphony, the Lyris Quartet, and the Santa
Barbara Chamber Players.
Suzanne Pittson has released 4 critically acclaimed albums:
Blues and the Abstract Truth (1996); Resolution: A Remembrance of John Coltrane (1999) with original lyrics set to Coltrane’s “A Love Supreme”; Out of the Hub: The Music of Freddie Hubbard (2010); and Emerge Dancing (2024) with her husband, pianist Jeff Pittson.
Suzanne has performed and/or recorded with Steve Wilson, John
Patitucci, Jeremy Pelt, Dave Liebman, Harvie S, Shunzo Ohno, Buster Williams, Mike Clark, and Jack Walrath. Suzanne has been recognized for her musicianship and improvisational skills, called by All About Jazz “
More than just a singer, Suzanne Pittson is a jazz musician. With
a fluid phrasing and stunning tone, Pittson uses her voice as another instrument, improvising and playing with the melodies.”
In 2002, Bevan and Suzanne performed for the first time in Berkeley, CA. Following this meeting, Bevan hired Suzanne as the jazz vocal instructor in the UC Berkeley jazz program. Their friendship soon blossomed with many collaborations, including a duo recording, and small group and duo concerts throughout California and New York.
