About this Event

Living with chronic illness can feel like a constant balancing act — between pain and purpose, fatigue and relationships, showing up for others and showing up for ourselves. This October, just before World Mental Health Day, join us for The Best of Us, a safe and supportive workshop where we’ll explore how to cope better, connect deeper, and live more meaningfully even when illness gets in the way.

What to Expect

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) – learn simple, practical tools to handle tough thoughts and emotions, and discover how you can still live in line with your values even during flare-ups.
  • Mindfulness practice – gentle exercises to help you notice pain without getting stuck in it, and anchor yourself in the present moment.
  • The Best of Us sharing circle – a reflective activity to explore how you show up in relationships: when you’re at your best, when things get tough, what others can count on you for, and what support you need.

Why Join

  • Learn tools to feel less overwhelmed by pain and tough emotions.
  • Get clear on your personal values and how to honour them, even when illness limits you.
  • Practise saying what you need (without guilt) and celebrate what you bring to others.
  • Meet others who understand — no need to explain or put on a mask.

This isn’t about fixing or fighting your illness. It’s about learning new ways to live with it, and finding the strength, clarity, and connection to keep showing up — for yourself, and for the people who matter.

About the facilitator: Phoebe Chong is both an Associate Psychologist and someone who has lived with a chronic auto-inflammatory condition since age 14. She knows what it means to face pain, and how ACT can help shift the way we relate to it.
