About this Event
Benjamin Maloney is a dynamic pianist, composer, and arranger originally from Toledo, Ohio, and now based in Columbus. His journey into music began at the age of six, when his early love for piano set the stage for a lifelong passion for jazz and improvisation. Benjamin honed his skills at the University of Toledo, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance with a Jazz concentration. During his studies, he had the privilege of learning from and performing alongside legendary Jazz and Classical musicians such as Claude Black, Tim Whalen, Gunnar Mossblad, Jon Hendricks, and Tad W**d.
An accomplished performer, Benjamin has shared the stage with renowned artists including Shawn and Darden Purcell, Gilad Atzmon, Vic Juris, Michael Cox, Shawn Dobbins, and Bobby Sanabria. He has been featured twice in the prestigious Jazz Master’s Concert Series at the Kerrytown Concert House in Ann Arbor and was recognized as a finalist in the 2013 ASCAP Young Jazz Composers Competition.
He is a core member of the creative music ensemble Talking Ear and the Columbus-based Latin jazz band Waves de Ache, bringing his innovative touch to each project. With his deep-rooted passion for jazz and commitment to musical exploration, Benjamin continues to make a profound impact on the regional and national music landscapes.

Lucille’s is a cozy venue with clean sight lines & good sound featuring Jazz, Blues & Latin acts, plus eats. Founded in 2021, Lucille's is a publicly accessible jazz lounge which is located inside TolHouse, a private, Members-only social club designed for the city-dwelling creative and entrepreneurial class.
