About this Event
Join the Improbable Beasts bass clarinet ensemble and Trio Montage (clarinet, piano, and voice) at The Lilypad in Cambridge for a festive evening of music we are about to take to Ireland to perform at ClarinetFest 2024.
Trio Montage presents works they commissioned by Valencio Jackson and Erik Franklin, as well as their arrangement of the Stephen Sondheim classic “Putting it Together” from Sunday in the Park With George.
The Improbable Beasts present an eclectic program, from medieval chant to klezmer, with arrangements of works by 12th century mystic and composer Hildegard von Bingen, 17th German English composer Henry Purcell, the 21st-century Finnish metal-klezmer-cabaret-folk band Alamaailman Vasarat, and original tunes by Beasts leader Jonathan Russell.
All proceeds from this concert will help fund the Beasts' journey to Ireland in early August, where we have the honor of headlining at this year's ClarinetFest (think Comic-Con for Clarinet Nerds).
