About this Event
Join KALW for a conversation with local organizations focused on immigration advocacy to explore how they are adapting, taking action, empowering their community, and organizing in response to rapidly changing immigration policies.
Bring your concerns, questions, and hopes, connect with your neighbors and learn how you can get involved.
Panelists include:

Erica Hellerstein is an award-winning journalist with more than a decade of experience reporting on global human rights issues. She has reported from Africa, Latin America, Europe, and across the United States, writing about politics, gender, labor, historical memory, and the ways geographies real and constructed shape popular opinion and culture. Before joining El Tímpano, Erica was a senior reporter with the international newsroom Coda Story covering the roots of global crises, from technology’s acceleration of authoritarianism to the use of historical revisionism to serve nationalist political agendas.

Eduardo Garcia is the Policy Director at the Latino Community Foundation, where he leads efforts to advance policy solutions that improve the lives of California’s Latino community. He plays a key role in implementing the Latino Power Fund, the Foundation’s initiative to strengthen Latino-led grassroots organizations and mobilize Latino leaders and voters for lasting civic and political change. Prior to joining the Foundation, Eduardo was a policy advocate in Washington, DC, with Generation Progress, where he developed national youth engagement programs and lobbied on key issues such as immigration, education, and economic security. He also led coalition-building and legislative strategy at the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights to protect immigrant rights. Eduardo holds a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Michigan, with a focus on immigration, workforce development, and human rights.
