About this Event
THE MEETING POINT is outside the Shelbourne Hotel.
Two estranged sisters meet at Kildare Place to discuss a memorial to their father who was a celebrated campaigner against the destruction of Georgian Dublin. An awkward reunion turns to furious disagreement over their father's work and cuts to the heart of their own fractured relationship; one wants desperately to hold onto things as they are, while the other wants to rip up the past.
Sparks fly in this witty comedy as they battle over family history, Brutalist architecture and the legacy of their colourful but controversial dad. The Battle of Kildare Place is a heady mix of architectural debate and sibling rivalry in the heart of the Georgian City.
'Walkabout is brilliantly simple in its conception. It offers audiences a series of new plays that can be observed within the natural frame of an outdoor setting' Sunday Business Post
'High on the list of arts groups who have performed miracles of innovation, imagination and gritty determination to maintain audiences committed to live performance, are Bewleys Cafe Theatre. Go, you will certainly enjoy yourself' Nomoreworkhorse
