That the Barleyshakes manage to hold hands with the tradition of Irish music while infusing it with a fresh and contemporary spirit is remarkable. Intense energy, beautiful harmony, and irresistible dance rhythms are responsible for their longevity, performing since their inception in Dublin in 1995.
The Barleyshakes won the Queensland music award for World music, and members contributed to the Lord of the Rings award winning soundtrack when recording with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra.
Their latest album ”Irishtown” was made album of the month on ABC national radio upon it’s release.
