Our Speakers
This year’s speakers include some of the leading experts in barley research:
- Dr. Aaron Beattie, a professor and barley breeder at the Crop Development Centre, University of Saskatchewan, will present insights from his program, which has released 10 varieties of barley, including popular malting and feed varieties like CDC Churchill and CDC Durango.
- Dr. Kelly Turkington, a pathologist at AAFC Lacombe, will discuss strategies for managing barley diseases, with a focus on disease-resistant varieties and integrated management techniques such as rotation, fungicide timing, and intercropping.
- Chris Holzapfel, Research Manager at IHARF, will share practical solutions based on his research in soil fertility and applied agronomy, helping farmers make informed decisions for increased yield and profitability.
