The Barham Cup returns to its original format in 2024 to celebrate 100 years since the original race. This is a unique relay style race with one half of the team rowing from the Fish Quay to Coombe Cellars, a swap over, then the other half rowing from Coombe Cellars to Newton Town Quay. The race is for regatta style dinghies in teams of 2 (1+1) and 4 (2+2).
Medals are available for 1st, 2nd, 3rd placings in each category, and trophies for each category winner, plus the Barham Cup awarded to the first team overall.
Classes:
• Men’s Singles (1+1), Men’s pairs (2+2), men over 40 (1+1 or 2+2)
• Ladies Singles (1+1), Ladies Pairs (2+2), Ladies over 40 (1+1 or 2+2)
• Mixed singles (1+1), mixed pairs (2+2 - must be man/woman + man/woman)
• Junior under 14, under 16, under 18 (1+1 or 2+2)
• Vets over 50, Pub Team, First Newton Abbot Crew (1+1 or 2+2, men, ladies or mixed - mixed must be man/woman + man/woman)
Teams can only enter one category which must be specified at registration. Limited boats and oars available by prior arrangement and on a first-come-first-served basis.
5:45pm. Registration and safety brief outside Seasports SW. entry fee £2.50 per person
6:30pm. Race starts
8:00pm. Approx. Presentation of medals and trophies at Newton Town Quay
A bar will be available at Newton Town Quay as well as a food van for purchases.
For all water-based events, children aged 16 years and under must wear lifejackets (not supplied)
