About this Event
The Cambodian Space Project premieres The Barbarian Ship, an immersive rock opera that plunges audiences into the high seas of the 19th century.
Based on the true story of the Mutiny on the Brig Cyprus, it follows Tasmanian convicts, led by self-appointed Captain William Swallow, as they hijack a ship and escape across the Pacific, facing Samurai in Japan before returning to England.
Packed with pirate anthems and intense drama, this groundbreaking production creates a carnival atmosphere that blurs the line between performer and spectator.
This event is brought to you as part of the 2025 Australian Wooden Boat Festival held 7-10 February, 2025.
