About this Event

In the third and final installment of this year's "It's More Than History" lecture series sponsored by Baltimore National Heritage Area and presented by The Peale, learn abou the railroad!

As the original technological network of the country, the B&O Railroad played an impressive role in shaping the country's economy, society, and culture. This talk will explore how America's first railroad, and perhaps railroads more generally, shaped the early development of city, region, and emerging nation.


Presenter Bio: Jonathan Goldman, Chief Curator, B&O Railroad Museum

Jonathan joined the museum in September 2019 as chief curator and provides leadership and management of the museum's interpretation, exhibitions, collections, archives, restoration, and education teams, ensuring both the care of the museum's unparalleled objects as well as producing engaging programming and experiences for visitors. Jonathan has worked in the museum field for over 13 years, developing impact-driven exhibitions, improving care collection programs, as well as developing engaging public educational experiences. He received a B.A. in Asian Studies from Occidental College, a B.F.A. in Art Direction and Design for Social Impact from the Art Center College of Design, and an M.A. in Exhibition Design from George Washington University. Jonathan has taught at George Washington University and is currently an adjunct professor at Towson University.
