Marking 25 years since the closure of Govanhill Baths, this new outdoor dance performance by Bex Anson brings together an all-ages local ensemble in a living choreography of water, memory and resistance.
Featuring a newly commissioned live folk song written and performed by Lainey Dempsey, the work ripples through expressive movement, song and protest, celebrating the communities who continue to keep the Baths alive.
The Ballad Of Govanhill Baths is supported by Govanhill Baths Community Trust and The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland
Take Part in The Ballad of Govanhill Baths
We're looking for a mixed-age cast of 20 local people to perform in a new outdoor dance performance celebrating 25 years since the closure of Govanhill Baths.
No previous performance experience is needed. Refreshments and costumes will be provided, and rehearsals will take place in and around Govanhill Baths.
Rehearsal Dates*
- Tuesday 4 August, 2pm–4.30pm
- Wednesday 5 August, 2pm–4.30pm
- Thursday 6 August, 2pm–4.30pm
- Friday 7 August, 2pm–6pm (Show Day)
*Attendance at all rehearsals is encouraged/ please notify if there are dates you are unable to attend in the booking form.
