The Background Show, is a variety show consisting of music, standup, improv, and other surprises intended to raise money for the production of the short film--Slums of Toluca Lake!
**The first performance of the show will be a couple of songs performed by Harper-Rose Drummond, and Chris Obrien. This performance will be filmed as a scene in the film. Willing audience members will be seen in the film itself!**
Audience members who do not want to be background in the film will be seated out of view of the camera.
This talented cast includes:
Mehdi Barakchian — Known for Manifest, You, and The Last O.G. Mehdi is a seasoned improviser, and can be seen in multiple commercials on your TV screen.
Harper-Rose Drummond — is a comedian and co-host of the audience interactive podcast Tea Time. In addition to standup, the last two years she dived into musical improv and is on four indie teams, in addition to Sing Out, Louise! at UCB.
Marcus Folmar —performs regularly with Upright Citizen Brigade Harold team LoverBoy and has appeared in over 60 TV shows, films and commercials.
Matt Oberg — Known for his roles in television series such as The Real O'Neals, Ugly Americans, Hart of Dixie, for voicing Kite Man in Harley Quinn and Kite Man: Hell Yeah!. He starred as Mitch Reed in The Comedians.
Chris Obrien -- Is a seasoned improviser, and a genius level musician. Yes. Genius.
Chris Roberti — Known for HBO’s High Maintenance; also FX's Dying for Sex; and for Broad City
Kevin Scott -- Known for Boom Chicago, Burn Manhattan, Centralia, and exactly one million other improv shows.
Nate Starkey -- Is writer, producer, and director of the new short--Slums of Toluca Lake. He has undertaken this new project simply as a ploy to perform in this show with his amazingly talented cast and crew.
