Join the Author's Series for a lively, fast-moving conversation and an engaging interactive lecture with celebrated local authors, hear their stories, and ask them your own questions. These are free community events that have become a unique opportunity for Houston area authors and aspiring authors to share inspiring strategies and experiences in the publishing world!
Over the last few years, a diverse and award-winning range of authors has joined us to speak about their literary works and writing processes. Each talk is followed by a Q&A opportunity, and the books are most often available to borrow through the Texas Southern University Library.
The Author's Series Day is excited to announce our three (3) parts:
4:00 PM to 5:30 PM | Children's Book Lite Bites & Insights: The Children's Book Exchange and Showcase. Best-selling children's authors Lynn C. Page and Liz Faublas-Wallace will host the hour and a half Children's Book Exchange and Showcase. This workshop is geared toward children's book authors and we will share some of the latest tips and tricks for self-publishing your children's book.
The Exchange:
An opportunity to speak and hear from other children's book authors just like you. Find opportunities to collaborate and exchange ideas or lessons learned through the book writing, publishing, and marketing journey.
The Showcase:
Opportunity to anonymously give and get some feedback on your book. You will be able to share and receive everything from book size, the book cover, the font type and size you used, and much more! Index cards are dropped into a bowl in front of your book display. You can opt-out to having comments read out loud or take them home and self-evaluate.
If you have been procrastinating, you'll want to act right away to ensure you get a spot. Don't forget your books!

Author Charity Shane', "Snow Queen Series" Charity Shane' is urban fiction, romance, and women's fiction author who loves books and words. She’s from Florida but currently resides in Houston. She loves to introduce her readers to new characters and great storylines, one word at a time.
Copies of the author's books will also be available for electronic purchase. Please no cash exchange in the library!
7:00 PM to 8:00 PM | Author's Series Lecture
During this portion of the program, we'll have a mixed panelist of authors, illustrators, and publishers for an honest and open discussion to answer questions about being an author, becoming an author, tips on how to market, how to use social media, and some tips on how to get your book used as a supplementary reader in schools, colleges, and universities and much more!
About The Author's Series
The Author's Series begins its journey in March 2018 when Daphine Jack and Dr. Janis Peyton, the former Executive Director of TSU's library, both had the vision to help the community of authors and aspiring authors in the Houston area. Carlos Wallace, a Best-selling author, saw the vision and joined in on the mission to celebrate and showcase writers from different backgrounds and showcase the deep diversity of contemporary literature in Houston. Now in its 5th year, the Author's Series has expanded the Advisory Board to include, best-selling author Avery Washington, and best-selling children's books authors Liz Faublas-Wallace and Lynn C. Page.
