About this Event
It’s widely recognised that Australia is producing some of the best chardonnay in the world. So say Jane Lopes and Jonathan Ross, American sommeliers and co-authors of “How to Drink Australian” … and French-born Melbourne sommelier, Loic Avril.
Unlike France where great chardonnay only comes from Burgundy and Chablis, Australia has wonderful chardonnay coming out of a dozen or so regions from Tasmania to the Hunter Valley and across the continent to Margaret River. Include Yarra Valley, Mornington, Geelong, Gippsland, Macedon, Adelaide Hills and Orange.
The range of geographies and climates is matched by the wide range of wine styles.
As Lopes says: although Australia is “the most exciting wine producing country in the world”, it could do a better job of promoting itself. The world has yet to wake up to these great wines. Meanwhile, we will continue to celebrate them with events like our Brisbane Masterclass.
