THE FESTIVAL AIMS TO
Inspire a love of orchestral, symphonic band and big band music among young musicians
Foster a sense of community among South Island school-aged musicians through coming together to perform music to each other
Promote further opportunities for ensemble playing beyond school; CYO, NZSSSO, , CYJO, NZSO NYO, CSO Internships, professional orchestral careers
Raise standards of performance by providing written feedback, and face-to-face workshops, with experienced orchestral practitioners
Recognise outstanding individual performers through the presentation of a number of special awards
Recognise participation and achievement through the presentation of certificates to participating ensembles at Bronze, Silver or Gold level.
