TASO MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL for 2025 – 2026

1 September 2025
Enriching Lives Through the Arts

Dear Member

Thank you for your support of The Arts Society Oakham over the last year. From the feedback we have received the committee understand that you have enjoyed the lectures as many of you have rated them as outstanding or excellent. Renewal of your membership for our 2025/26 season of 10 lectures, starting on 27 November 2025, is now due, with a deadline of 30 September 2025.

The Subscription Renewal Arrangements for you to follow are detailed on the next page and the subject and lecturer for the first few lectures of the year are listed to ‘whet your appetite’ for the year to come.

Our lectures will be held, as usual, at the Victoria Hall, Oakham and we hope you will join us for coffee or tea and a biscuit (£2 per head) and socialising before each lecture. As part of your membership, you will receive TASO monthly newsletter via Mail Chimp, the National Arts Society’s quarterly Magazine by post and their regular members’ bulletin by email plus you will have access to the national Arts Society’s website menu of articles, lectures, videos and special events. We will continue to offer special interest events and visits during the year at an additional fee. Please tell your friends about our Society’s programme. They are welcome to attend our lectures at a guest fee of £7 per person. It goes without saying, that as far as recruitment goes, you are our greatest asset. Thank you to those of you who brought guests or introduced new members to the society during the past year.

The team at the Registration Desk and all the committee look forward to welcoming you to our new year of lectures.

Your sincerely
Brenda Palmer (TASO Membership Secretary)

RENEWAL ARRANGEMENTS

The annual subscription for the new year, November 2025 to October 2026 is £50 person. We have been able to keep the same subscription as last year and we hope you agree this is excellent value, £5 for each lecture by a nationally known expert in their field.

Existing members do not need to complete a renewal form but please do remember to update me with any change of address or email. My contact details are at the top of this letter.

DETAILS OF HOW TO PAY ARE BELOW

If you do not wish to renew your membership, please let me know as soon as possible, preferably before 30 September as this helps with our planning. You can contact me by email, phone or post and I would much appreciate knowing the reason for you resigning as this helps us understand the needs of our society.

If your renewal subscription payment is not received by 30 September, and you have not been in touch, you will be deemed to have resigned.

New Programme Cards will be handed to you at the November lecture, or posted to you, as confirmation of your membership.

27 November– Marie-Anne Mancio takes us through ‘The History of American Art in 25 Iconic Works’

22 January– Ian Swankie lectures on ‘Battersea Power Station – the four Iconic Chimneys’ – a history of this landmark building, now re-purposed.

26 February– Sarah Burles talks about ‘Les Trois Grandes Dames of Impressionism’ - in this the year that marks 100 years since the death of Monet, whose work represented the beginnings of Impressionism.

26 March – Mary Alexander invites us to ‘Meet me at the Waldorf’ to share the extraordinary story of the buildings, the Astors, and Art Patronage.

23 April – Juliet Heslewood shares her fascination for the relationships portrayed in art, with her lecture ‘Fathers: artists’ portraits of their own fathers’.

Later in the year we shall be touching on matters modern and historic, close to home and cultures new, in various media, and also meeting a current practising artist/sculptor.
