Join Taste of Satira and Red Rice Books for a Gullah Geechee winemaking experience that offers a unique blend of culinary arts and cultural education. Participants not only learn the intricacies of creating fine indigenous wines, but also delve into the rich history and traditions of the Gullah Geechee culture.Each class is designed to be hands-on, providing you with practical skills in winemaking, while sharing stories and heritage that make the experience truly enriching. Join us to master new techniques, enjoy delicious flavors, and immerse yourself in the vibrant legacy of the Gullah Geechee people.
The winemaking experience will include:
- An intimate, winemaking class of 15 people
- 1 take-home brew kit crafted by Taste by Satira
- Small bites, featuring Carolina red rice and a Gullah Geechee charcuterie board
In celebration of culture and tradition, participants may a add a copy of "Wine Pairing for the People" , by Cha McCoy for pick up at the event. In this first-of-its-kind guidebook, Cha McCoy pairs wines with foods from Africa, Asia, and beyond, blending practical information with a side of aspirational armchair travel. Cha shares her journey of learning and connecting with deep culinary traditions and regional cuisines around the world, diving in by continent and then by region or country, from Africa to the Caribbean, from Latin America to the United States of America, and Asia, and exploring their winemaking regions.
