In the autumn we use symbols of the moon and chrysanthemum for tea utensils. We would like to wear the scent of chrysanthemum and eat chrysanthemum flowers, and we wish for eternal youth and beauty.


Chrysanthemum Festival (September Festival):

September 9, Lunar calendar/ October 14, 2021 AD.

The 9th of September was known as the Changyang Festival or the Chrysanthemum Festival. Chrysanthemums are originally from China, but both chrysanthemums and cherry blossoms are considered to be typical Japanese flowers. Chrysanthemum is believed to be an auspicious flower that represents longevity and eternal youth and was used as a medicinal herb in China.


Details of the tea ceremony

  • Sake: Sake with Chrysanthemum
  • Meal: Chestnut rice
  • Sweets: "Kisewata" Chrysanthemum Covers, a custom of the Imperial Court in the Chrysanthemum Festival
  • Tea: Usucha
  • Hanging scroll: Moon
  • Incense case: Moon
  • Tea Container:Setsu-getsu-Ka (Snow, Moon and Flowers)
  • Tea bowl: chrysanthemum
  • Tea Scoop: flowers dress

Coronavirus prevention:

We will ask you to show your vaccination record at the door.

Please enter your correct name and email address when you purchase your ticket.

Please wear a mask on the day of the event.

We will disinfect your hands at the entrance of the venue and will ask you to wash your hands with soap in the intermission.

This tea ceremony will be held at 75 percent of the maximum capacity.

Dress code:

Western style clothes are acceptable. No sleeveless shirts, or short mini skirts. Please bring a clean pair of white socks. (We have some extra)

Please take off jewelry and watches.

We will take pictures of the tea ceremony during the event. Please note that the photos taken may be used for SNS at a later date.
