The Art of the Joke

Welcome to "The Art of the Joke"!

Comedian William Goulet Kean will teach you simple ways to make anything funny from a personal story to the driest presentation. The seminar will begin with the fundamentals of the psychology behind laughter and the components of a joke. Next, you'll be given simple comedy structures that can be inserted into any prepared topic and given ways to communicate so that your intended punchline lands. Finally, all of the learnings will culminate in a practical application of how to talk to your audience and tactics for unprepared jokes when things go off topic.

About William Kean
William Kean has performed comedy almost his entire life. He has a BFA in Theater from NYU: Tisch. He toured the country with Improv4Kids, the Coast2Coast Comedy Tour, and FaceOffUnlimited. For the past decade he’s been a cast member of NYC’s live Japanese Game Show BATSU! as well and runs their standup show Laughter Party. In his private teaching practice, he currently coaches comedians around the world (16 states and 8 countries at the time of writing). And some of his work included helping Chase O’Donnell with her set “People Pleasure” which was put on both NPR and NYT’s “Best Comedy Albums of 2023” lists.
