About this Event
Join us for an in-depth look at sustainable landscape design! In this 3-part class, you'll learn about Florida Friendly LandscapingTM, the design process, as well as landscape installation and maintenance. Students will create their own designs to take home.
Part 1-2 will focus on Florida Friendly LandscapingTM, analyzing your site plan and site conditions, and then selecting the right plants. We will explore the creative elements of the design process including various garden themes and their unique characteristics for creating beautiful, eco-friendly landscapes. Students will analyze their own site and create designs that they can then take home to implement.
Part 3 will focus on proper landscape planting and maintenance. Before relandscaping it is important to understand proper installation and care for your plants to grow and thrive into your own oasis. We will cover tree planting, pruning, mulching, irrigation, and fertilization in the early months of planting.
Due to the nature of the course, it is recommended to attend all 3 portions. Students who have scheduling conflict may choose to wait until another workshop is offered later in the summer. This class is designed to have a practical portion where you can take home your design and implement into your landscape. On the first day of class, students are responsible to bring a soil sample, PLAT survey, and photos of their yard.
