First Thursdays have agreed to make our Public Art Tour a regular feature of the night after we gathered more than 60 people over our last two installments! Please help us spread the word to your friend fam and your fam fam! x
Here's the brief:
More than ever before in her history, Cape Town itself has become a work of experimental art. It’s not just that First Thursdays has built a popular community of galleries and monthly shows in the heart of the city, but that more and more buildings have also become canvasses for street art or were already subtle pieces of masterful design to begin with. Any first-time visitor to the city can see that the CBD is eclectic, maddening and full of lore and fascinating details.
How many have you spotted? How often have you wanted someone to explain to you ‘why the hell they put that statue there(??)’ and ‘what does it all mean?’
Well, for the fourth time ever, First Thursdays is partnering with local psychogeography institute Cape Town Heritage Tours to provide a short but encyclopaedic tour through the city as a semi-public service event. You’ll get the lay of the land from Adderley Street to Buitengracht, Wale to Strand Street, gaining a flabbergasting perspective on the city that will stay with you forever.
You’ll never be able to saunter into town again without your curiosity going into overdrive.
For just R100 pp (with discounts for groups and reviews) you can join us for just over an hour, starting at 18h00 at 'The Arch for the Arch' at the corner of Adderley and Wale, finishing at Youngblood Gallery on Bree at 19h30, so let’s gallivant together through our zany streets and squares before we snatch up the rest of the free wine and the bon mots on Church Street!
DM or WhatsApp on 076 033 8164 to book, and check out our website at www.capetownheritagetours.co.za!
Yours,
