Tutifruti’s Poetry Photobook Workshop, presented at the Miami Zine Fair, guides participants through shooting and binding their own poetry photobook while exploring narrative storytelling as a resource for emotional processing. Each participant will receive a camera that prints adhesive-backed images, which they will use to create a photobook telling the story of an emotion.
Through open discussion, timed journal activities, example images, and a photowalk, participants will develop a narrative poem inspired by a specific emotion and transform their idea into a handbound photobook. An emotion wheel will help pinpoint a particular feeling, serving as the foundation for journaling, photography, and poetry.
After binding their books, participants will engage in a discussion on narrative storytelling as a form of emotional processing and the significance of expressing emotions through words and images. The project concludes with an opportunity to share their completed works before taking home their poetry photobooks.
