About this Event

This workshop is designed for analog photography enthusiasts, with or without prior experience with alternative techniques. Its goal is to provide an accessible space for experimentation, allowing participants to dive into the processes of Film Soup and 35mm Film Negative Intervention. Using all the materials provided, we’ll explore these techniques firsthand during the session. By the end, we will scan the negatives, and each participant will receive their images in digital format.

Workshop Schedule

The workshop will be structured as a six-hour session:

Film Soup

45 min: Introduction to the process, and presentation of artistic references
60 min: Hands-on experimentation with 35mm film
45 min: Film drying, processing, and scanning
30 min: Discussing results, and feedback

35mm Film Negative Intervention

45 min: Introduction to the process, and presentation of artistic references
60 min: Hands-on experimentation with 35mm negatives
45 min: Negative drying, expected results, and post-production tips
30 min: Scanning negatives, discussing results, and feedback

Required Materials
For Participants:

Film Soup

A pre-shot roll of 35mm color film
One to two ingredients of choice in liquid or powder form such as tea and spices
Aprons or wear stain-friendly clothing

About Daura Campos

Daura Campos is a visual artist and photographer based in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Her artistic practice involves experimental photographic techniques to spark discussions about our relationship with photography and society. Her work has been exhibited in festivals, galleries, and museums across South Korea, the Netherlands, Germany, England, Canada, and more. In 2024, she was awarded 2nd place in the "Technique" category and Gold in the "Technique – Film Soup" subcategory at the Analog Sparks Awards.
