Composer-pianist Tze Toh and members of the TO Ensemble Lazar T. Sebastine (Indian violin) and Teo Boon Chye (saxophone) presents a performance - talk about how they create their unique contemporary fusion music that blends film score, jazz, Indian and European classical music and Asian sounds.
They will perform excerpts from their upcoming concert The Vast One (27th Apr, Esplanade Recital Studio, 7:30pm) and will share how they combine an orchestral, cinematic composition approach with Carnatic (South Indian) and jazz improvisation, through use of ragas, scales, harmony, textures and melodies. They will each demonstrate the distinctiveness of Carnatic, jazz improvisation and melodic invention.
