About the Speaker
Hans Fama is a Los Angeles-born and based chef, vegetable grower, and breeder. Drawing inspiration from his heritage, Hans Fama’s work focuses on merging his passions for traditional southern Italian food culture, gardening, regenerative agriculture, and the abundance of California’s great produce. As a tomato enthusiast, he collects and preserves a large number of rare antique varieties, most notably long shelf life types that store at room temperature for multiple months. As a tomato breeder, he creates new varieties that combine long shelf life with intense flavor, plant vigor, and disease resistance to perform in our changing climate.
