THE ART OF ASSISTING
25HR YOGA TEACHER TRAINING
Yoga Alliance | Part Time | In-Person
The Art of Assisting is a bespoke training that highlights the power of touch as a means for deep communication and connection. This training is for yoga teachers to explore the craft of hands-on assisting with confidence and integrity. In harnessing the skill of assisting yoga we enter a dynamic non-verbal conversation with our students to guide them towards a more empowered personal practice.
Over a long weekend we will explore the many ways in which assisting can enrich our teaching as well as our students’ practice. We will delve into the importance of:
- energetic awareness
- the quality of touch
- understanding physical limitations
- trauma sensitivity
- refinement of posture technique and alignment
- anatomy and physiology
- modifications
- working with props
Via the practice of intentional seeing and listening we will learn how to read and efficiently assess different body frames and how to offer the most attuned assist to guide your students towards full flourishment.
An intentional hands on assist; at the right moment aligned with rhythmic breath and movement has the power to stabilise open and awaken the receivers practice. With skilful guidance we can aid the process of refining alignment releasing physical stiffness and unblocking energetic channels. Our hands are conduits for great healing!
This course will give you the confidence to seamlessly step into the space of your students and engage in a transformative experience that lasts much longer than the touch itself.
Detailed demonstrations will help with the biomechanics and technical side of the practice. There will be ample practical time to get hands-on and experiment with your peers to explore the many effective and receptive ways we can assist yoga postures.
