•Have you wondered how you can make a career from playing piano without being a concert pianist or famous pop star?•Do you wonder what being an accompanist means?
•Are you interested in a career accompanying?
•Are you new to accompanying?
•Have you been accompanying but would like to understand your role better?
Come to a clinic being held by Michelle Hedges at the Cherokee location of Pianos for People. She will work with accompanists in real time on stage to share insights for a better experience for the soloist or ensemble. Michelle will share her thoughts on what it means to be a good accompanist and share some of her crazy experiences. She will take questions from the audience at the end of the session.
*We are looking for one PFP piano student who is willing to learn a short accompaniment and someone who will sing or play an instrument with you. This will require a couple of lessons with Michelle to prepare you for the stage. If you are interested, tell your teacher and have them contact [email protected]
**We are also looking for accompanists and their soloist who are willing and excited to have some instruction in the form of a clinic on stage. Your time will last about 15 minutes depending on how many people show up. Walk-ins are accepted, time permitting.
*Michelle has been accompanying for churches, choirs, solo and ensemble events, and her own students for more than 35 years. She is currently on staff at Pianos for People.
