What mysteries wait to be revealed by a set of Tarot Cards? In this lecture and workshop, we will be delving deeper into the imagery behind the cards, and the history of Tarot Card Art in: The Art History of Tarot presented by Beck Ravenswood and The Serpent’s Key Shoppe and Sanctuary.
In this workshop, we will explore Tarot Card designs through the ages, touch on notable deck designs, historic figures and their influence on modern art, and decipher some of the visual codes found in art of Tarot Cards. Following the lecture, one will create their OWN interpretation of a Tarot card- or perhaps a new one altogether- using a variety of media! We will have watercolor paints, colored pencils, markers, and mixed media to work with, but if participants are working with a particular medium, and would like to bring that along they are more than welcome to do so! This class is appropriate for ages 16+ (16-17 accompanied by an adult).
Beck Ravenswood is the owner of the Serpent’s Key Shoppe and Sanctuary, and has been reading Tarot cards for nearly a decade. Beck also has their Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design, and a deep love and appreciation for Art & Art History. They are excited to bring a historical lens to a mysterious art form, and spend the evening talking Tarot
