Exhibition Preview: "Noir et Blanc: The Essence of Form" at Art Basel 2024
In an era dominated by color, Noir et Blanc: The Essence of Form offers a transcendent journey into the elemental purity of black and white. Presented at Art Basel 2024 in Miami’s iconic Wynwood Arts District, this exhibition unites an exceptional group of contemporary artists who explore the profound power of the monochrome palette.
Featuring a diverse range of media—from monumental abstract paintings and intricate
sculptures to evocative photography and mixed-media installations—Noir et Blanc challenges the viewer to engage with the depth and contrast of black and white. Each work meditates on dualities: light and dark, presence and absence, simplicity and complexity, inviting new interpretations through the absence of color. A highlight of the exhibition will be a live art performance by Kei Murakami, (Kei's Smile Factory) renowned for her innovative reimagining of calligraphy, blending fluid motion with stark monochromatic forms.
The exhibition will also showcase the work of Steven Lyon, celebrated as a master of allure and seduction in photography, capturing moments of intense emotional and visual contrast. Lyon's work, along with pieces from a diverse array of local and international artists, including Soto, Transparent, AAKABO, David Magee Photography, Zmk, Saint, J. Margulis, Shlome Art, Kasseus, Jesus Guggenheim (Steep Daniels), Sydney Jackson and more as we will reveal how black
and white, far from being opposites, are complementary forces that deepen artistic expression. Noir et Blanc: The Essence of Form will showcase House of Rothschild elevating lingerie-making live during our Art Basel event-hand crafted into an art form, exploring themes of sensuality, contrast, and form.
