Explore the process of bird preservation in this two-day beginner-level taxidermy workshop under the expert guidance of Teori Shannon.
Participants will learn the importance of viability when using roadkill specimens for taxidermy and various techniques such as skinning and de-fleshing, washing, arranging and preening feathers, and bone whiting.
Participants are encouraged to keep an eye out for naturally occurring roadkill for use in this class, but bird specimens can be supplied. Final specimens are to be taken home by each participant, so please bring a box or bag to carry your work.
Please note: All materials are ethically sourced where possible. Borax, acetone and formaldehyde with be used.
