The Art of Sequencing Yoga course will explore the role of sequencing in creating ease and balance for the body and mind. We focus on asana, pranayama and meditation to create balance of the subtle body.
A great yoga class requires excellent sequencing. Our special four day intensive course on the Art of Sequencing yoga will give you time to experience and understand what it means to create really fantastic sequences for your classes. After the course you will be able to confidently create seamless yoga classes to meet a myriad of different needs and conditions.
Course skills
-Evolve your yoga practice with your newfound skills:
-Incorporate students of all levels safely and happily within the same class
-Enable students to strengthen and open specific areas of the physical body safely and progressively, to access more complex postures
-Create classes with a balance of “effort and ease” so that students can both work hard, and leave class with an experience of mindfulness and contentment
-Convey the key alignment points to keep students safe and help students understand their own needs
-Guide asana on the thread of the breath to create moving meditation (where relevant)
-Succinctly integrate yoga philosophy to an asana class
-Succinctly explain anatomical processes to students
-Understand the role of different asana on the body and mind
The course combines practice and theory. You will be taught a class each day complete with written and illustrated plans, and discussion time to explore how and why the class was structured.
Our Unique Approach at BSY
You will have the opportunity to be taught and to teach. Within the group setting you will brainstorm specific themes to create your own class plans. The study of relevant physiology will inform you how to incorporate poses to progressively strengthen and release the body to work towards peak poses. We will focus on improving teaching skills such as how to give accurate verbal instruction, so that you can travel the room and assist individual students.
