About this Event
The Argyle Film Festival (TAFF)
Where North Carolina stories take flight.
Join us on Friday, January 30, 2026, at the historic Varsity Theater in Chapel Hill for The Argyle Film Festival—a one-night celebration of bold storytelling, creative ambition, and the future of North Carolina cinema.
TAFF brings together independent, emerging, and student filmmakers alongside film lovers, artists, and community builders for an unforgettable evening of films, conversation, and connection. This is not just a screening—it’s a cultural gathering built around stories that matter and the people who tell them.
What Makes TAFF Different
🎬 Curated Films, Real Voices
Experience a hand-selected slate of independent, emerging, and student films that reflect the depth, creativity, and perspective of North Carolina’s cinematic community.
🗳️ Interactive Festival Experience
TAFF is participatory. Audience members will take part in selecting the recipient of the Argyle Award, honoring standout storytelling and creative excellence.
⭐ VIP Festival Experience
Upgrade to VIP and enjoy priority seating, exclusive access, and entry to the NuvoTaco VIP Lounge, featuring heavy hors d’oeuvres, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and the opportunity to connect directly with filmmakers and producers.
🌍 A True Community Event
TAFF is where filmmakers, artists, students, and supporters come together—not divided by status or background, but united by a shared love of cinema.
Supporting the Next Generation of Filmmakers
The Argyle Film Festival is proudly partnered with the North Carolina Filmmaking Initiative (NCFI), a nonprofit dedicated to supporting emerging filmmakers through education, mentorship, and access to resources.
A portion of every ticket sold directly supports NCFI, helping fund filmmaker fellowships and future opportunities for storytellers across the state. When you attend TAFF, you’re not just watching films—you’re investing in the next generation of North Carolina cinema.
