Anne Gair will be performing her own original music at Biggar Corn Exchange as part of the Biggar Little Festival in October, accompanied by her talented band. Special guest Singer- songwriter Carrie Martin, all the way from Hull, will open the show. Tickets are available via the link.
Anne Gair is an indie folk singer-songwriter, guitarist, and dulcimer player from Scotland. With an extensive performance history, Anne has toured throughout the UK both as a solo artist and lately with her ensemble, The Anne Gair Band. She has played at prestigious venues including The 100 Club, The Rock Gardens, The Hard Rock Cafe, The Voodoo Rooms, and King Tut's Wah Wah Hut, and regularly performs to sold-out audiences in theatres across the country.
Anne possesses a passion for writing in alternative open tunings, which allows her to deliver soaring melodies enhanced by her wide vocal range. Her eclectic musical influences span blues, jazz, folk, and indie genres, yet her affinity for open tunings draws a particular comparison to Joni Mitchell. This connection has led to the success of her dedicated show, 'Out of the Blue - A Celebration of Joni Mitchell,' performed by The Anne Gair Band, which has been met with critical acclaim.
Anne also trained as an actor at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. She continues to dabble in acting, most recently having great fun playing a Highwaywoman in a comedy sci-fi that will be showing at film festivals this coming year.
Anne is currently in the process of recording her album, a highly anticipated project that is expected to showcase her musical innovation. Anne Gair's contributions to the indie folk genre make her an up-and-coming artist being touted as 'One of Scotland's most promising songwriters'.
When not on stage, you will usually find her in a field in Scotland, in the middle of no-where with her two retired horses.
Carrie Martin
Born in Hull, Carrie is an acoustic guitarist and singer/songwriter.
Mentored by instrumental guitarist Gordon Giltrap MBE, she has attracted endorsements from Vintage Guitars, G7th Capos, Martin Strings & most recently she has become an artist for Faith Guitars.
Her last three albums Seductive Sky, Entity and Evergreen have included guests Elliott Randall, Gordon Giltrap, Oliver Wakeman, Daniel Cassidy (brother of late Eva Cassidy) ex Bad Company guitarist Dave Colwell, John Verity (Argent) and Roger Fisher (ex Heart guitarist).

Carrie has performed in Canada and has represented Vintage three times at the Namm Show In California. She also guests at various guitar shows around the UK to demo her use of open tunings.
May 2023 saw her take to the stage at The Roses Theatre, Tewkesbury, alongside Gordon Giltrap MBE , Oliver Wakeman and the mighty Rick Wakeman CBE, which led to Rick quoting Carrie as ‘Phenomenal’. Rick invited her back to the Roses Theatre June 2024 and this time asked her to join him on stage to perform 'Morning Has Broken' with him .
