“Bishkek Wedding is a relatively recent grouping of fine musicians whose backgrounds also span periods and scenes that are integral to LA musical history. Their music is highly improvisational, with nods to rock, jazz, and 20 & 21st century composition. Mostly steering admirably clear of foreground vs background / soloist vs rhythm section dynamics, Bishkek’s focus is more concerned with the relationships among the sonic fields created by the players. There’s some storytelling going on, possibly the overlapping voices of multiple unreliable narrators.”
