Introducing the Inaugural "IT STARTS WITH SHE" Girls Basketball Tip-off Classic!
Ladies and gentlemen mark your calendars! On Monday, December 8th, 2025, high school hoops in the DMV will reach a whole new level as four powerhouse public school programs tip-off in the first-ever IT STARTS WITH SHE (ISWS) Basketball Classic — an annual showcase you won’t want to miss.
Hosted at **historic Howard University** in the heart of Washington, DC, this event brings together some of the top female talent, school pride, and the electric energy that only DMV basketball can deliver.
**Game 1 – 6:15 PM**
**Potomac High School (Dumfries, VA)** vs. **Colonial Forge**
Two Virginia contenders collide in what promises to be a fast-paced, high-intensity battle to set the tone for the night.
**Game 2 - Main Event – 8:00 PM**
A true "PG County showdown":
Largo High School vs. The Lady Pumas of Dr. Henry A. Wise
This rivalry matchup is expected to pack the gym and shake the floor—don’t miss a second of it. The legendary Ayana Ball-Ward will lead her Lady lions against one of the most savvy and exciting young coaches in the girls high school basketball space (Coach Jay Spinks). Coach Ball-Ward is also a Women's Basketball Alumnus of Howard University so this matchup is sure to be a good one!
This is more than just a showcase. It’s the start of a tradition. A celebration of community, talent, female empowerment and the future stars of the game.
