Join WQPT PBS’s local screenings and discussion panels that will raise our region’s awareness of THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION, a new six-part, 12-hour documentary directed by Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein, and David Schmidt that examines the history of America's founding. In addition to discussing the excerpts from the documentary, these local screenings will include discussions of the often-overlooked history of the role our Quad City community played as the location of the western-most battle of the war.
The members of our discussion panel will include local authors, historians, teachers, and Johnathan Buffalo, Historical Preservation Director of the Meskwaki Nation, Sac and Fox Tribe of the Mississippi in Iowa.
Corporate funding for THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION was provided by Bank of America. Major funding was provided by The Better Angels Society and its members Jeannie and Jonathan Lavine with the Crimson Lion Foundation; and the Blavatnik Family Foundation. Major funding was also provided by David M. Rubenstein; The Robert D. and Patricia E. Kern Family Foundation; Lilly Endowment Inc.; and the following Better Angels Society members: Eric and Wendy Schmidt; Stephen A. Schwarzman; and Kenneth C. Griffin with Griffin Catalyst.
