The Air Pirates get Twilight Zoned in Newburgh

The Empty Head Theater presents the return of the Air Pirates in Twilight Zoned, a parody of the iconic TV series. After a ten year hiatus the Air Pirates are back for four performances in two different locations. For the first weekend the Pirates perform in their original home in Sugar Loaf. The following weekend the participatory radio shows perform at their new home in Newburgh.

The Empty Head Theater Company makes its home at The Ellis, a new performance venue at 60 DuBois Street Newburgh, NY. Housed in the historic United Presbyterian Church, The Ellis is an artist and entrepreneur led performing and cultural hub based in the City.

A unique mash-up of old-time radio and stoner humor the Air Pirates have been called “A Prairie Home Companion with a bong”. The Air Pirates Radio Theater was voted the Best Theater Troupe in the Hudson Valley by the Times Herald Record Readers’ Poll for an unprecedented six years in a row.

Prior to the performance the audience is auditioned for the sound effects and given all the necessary props and a review of what they are to do. The Cue Card Girl lets the audience know when it’s time to slam a door, make the footsteps and even shoot the guns (props, thank you) during the shows.

The Air Pirates Get Twilight Zoned on October 18 & 19 at SLPAC. The show continues the next weekend October 23 & 24 in Newburgh at The Ellis 60 Dubois Street . All performances begin at 7:30 pm.
