Around the time of our Civil War, a revolution in painting took place in Paris. We show slides of the work of the great Impressionist artists, Degas, Manet, Monet, Morisot, Pisarro, and Renoir. We also show the work of the academic French artists they supplanted, like Bonheur, Bouguereau, Gérôme, and Meissonier, and move on to the American school of Impressionism, led by Cassatt, Chase, and Hassam.
