Join award-winning pianist Rebeca Omordia and soprano Omo Bello for an intimate performance of African Art Song & African Pianism - part of Rebeca's trailblazing The African Concert Series.Rebeca Omordia has spent the last decade pioneering repertoire by African classical composers, unearthing and recording compositions by some of the continent's influential past and present composers. In 2019 she launched the world's first ever African Concert Series in London - a platform for African classical music to be performed - which became resident at the iconic Wigmore Hall in 2023.
The programme of the series reflects the depth and diversity of African art music, the richly diverse genre of music which forms a bridge between Western classical music and traditional African music.
Described as a "...talent of gold" by Gianni Gori of La Stampa, French Nigerian soprano Omo Bello has performed widely across France with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the Orchestre national de France, the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris, and the Orchestre de Paris. In the UK, Omo has performed at London's Barbican and Royal Festival Hall and Birmingham Town Hall, making her Wigmore Hall debut in 2023 alongside Rebeca Omordia.
