The Big Greasy is a Nashville-based powerhouse Funk/R&B band that isn't afraid to stretch. The band's drummer, leader, and co-founder, Wes Little, formed the band with the mission of bringing deep-pocketed grooves and great songs to the stage while also featuring a jazz-infused spirit with improvisational intent.

Featuring a six-piece horn section in its largest format with some of Nashville’s finest musicians, The Big Greasy also frequently features guest artists who are also some of Nashville’s finest. The band prides itself on playing a hip repertoire of covers, featuring many hits (and also songs that should have been hits) from many of the greats of Funk/R&B and Soul from the '60s and the '70s. Along with this format, they also combine jazz elements from the same era within the songs as well. Stevie Wonder, Earth, Wind & Fire, Sly Stone, Bill Withers, Al Green, Aretha Franklin, James Brown, and Tower of Power are heard frequently, while some grooving instrumentals from artists such as Ray Charles, Lou Donaldson, Eddie Harris, and Herbie Hancock make appearances as well.

Some of Nashville’s finest vocalists and musicians are featured regularly, including:

Jannelle Means - Vocals • Rachel Rodriguez - Vocals • Brian Allen - Bass • Tim Galloway - Guitar • Sam Hunter - Guitar • DeMarco Johnson - Keys • Dane Bryant - Keys • Dana Robbins - Sax • Steve Hermann - Trumpet • Roy Agee - Trombone

Also, many guest artists and instrumentalists perform in rotation, including:

Kira Small - Vocals • Maureen Murphy - Vocals • Jason Eskridge - Vocals • Mike Hicks - Vocals • Jonell Mosser - Vocals • Jimmy Hall - Vocals • Evan Cobb - Sax • Emmanuel Echem - Trumpet • Jeff Coffin - Sax • Barry Green - Trombone • Mark Douthit - Sax • Marcus Finnie - Drums • Tim Marks - Bass and many more.

Whatever the line-up, and if the band is a nine-piece or a fourteen-piece line-up, The Big Greasy always delivers to the people who want to get their groove on.

Quote from Wes:

"We are groove zealots who love great Funk/R&B songs and have the hearts and minds of jazz musicians. Our mission here is to use some of the funkiest, hippest, most soulful songs to date to allow some of the greatest talent in Nashville to be showcased."
