The 5.6.7.8's
Female Garage-Punk Trio from Quentin Tarantino's 'K*ll Bill' film announce rare UK date.
The 5.6.7.8's hail from Tokyo, Japan and were formed in the early 1990's. Stylistically, the band take their inspiration from Fifties & Sixties Rock 'n' Roll and have been compared to artists such as Link Wray, Dick Dale, The Sonics, Bo Diddley, The Trashmen, Chuck Berry, The Detroit Cobras and more.
They performed three songs in the 2003 Quentin Tarantino film 'K*ll Bill Vol. 1' where they performed covers of The Rock-a-Teens song "Woo Hoo", The Ikettes song "I'm Blue" and their own track "I Walk Like Jayne Mansfield".
Yoshiko "Ronnie" Fujiyama - Vocals & Guitar
Sachiko Fujii - Vocals & Drums
Akiko Omo - Vocals & Bass
The Masonics
Featuring Micky Hampshire (Thee Milkshakes), John Gibbs (Kaisers, Wildebeests) and Bruce Brand (Thee Mighty Caesars, Thee Headcoats, Holly Golightly, Thee Milkshakes, The Pop Rivets).
Their 1991 debut eponymously titled album on Hangman Records carried on the sound and the spirit of The Milkshakes. More albums have followed on Sympathy for the Record Industry, Vinyl Japan, Damaged Goods and Dirty Water Records.
Black Mekon
These two vicious bastards (Black Mekon and his brother Black Mekon) were named after the legendary Black Mekong, illegitimate children of prostitutes visited by missionary preachers, abandoned to fend for themselves on the banks of The Mekong River. Their mobile church of jet-engine noise and pelvis-shattering drums has graced shores all over Europe, Japan, South America and the USA both headlining and at the personal request of Jon Spencer, Guitar Wolf, The Scientists, Kid Congo, King Brothers and more.
They play fast and live as a two-piece with all the consideration and skill of a flaming, wingless jet engine heading for the mountain.
You can grab their last record "The Lumpiness of Demand" on PNKSLM records.
7pm doors, £10 early bird, £14 standard advance, discounts for NHS & IB card, more on the door
