The Festival of Spirituals, which actually predates the founding of Cimarron Circuit, has been a Palm Sunday tradition since 1970. The late Thomas and Carol Brice Carey, opera singers and Cimarron Circuit founders, developed the annual festival to keep aspects of African-American heritage alive. A selection of new and familiar spirituals will be presented by the community, student, and guest singers. The festival is one of only a few nationwide that seeks to preserve this original American art form and the stories surrounding its evolution.Admission for the Festival of Spirituals is always free!
