Join the adventure while exploring the famous 3 Birdies of the Western Mournes.

On Sat Jan 31, 2026, we will gather at Hen Mountain Carpark with like minded adventurers to take in the 3 Birdies Sunmits, returning via the famous Mourne Way.

Escape the crowds and step into the wilder side of the Mournes on our 3 Birdies Hike over Hen Cock and Pigeom in the lesser-travelled Western Mournes.

This multi-peak adventure takes us into quieter terrain where paths are less defined and the sense of exploration is real. Expect big views, open hillsides, and a proper back-to-basics mountain day — a little more adventurous, a little more rugged, and hugely rewarding.

If you love less crowds, variety, and earning your summits, this one’s for you 🏔️

As always, we’ll be taking this at our usual relaxed pace — no rushing, no chasing times — just soaking it all in, enjoying the craic, and letting the Mournes work their magic. 🌄🥾

CAN I GO ON MY OWN?

Of course, there are lots of people that join our events on their own, it won’t be long until you are making new mountain mates!

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO WEAR

🥾 Waterproof walking boots

👖 Walking trousers or leggings (no jeans/cotton)

🧥 Insulating layers such as fleece or wool and a jacket

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO BRING:

🎒 Small backpack

🌧️ Waterproof jacket and trousers

🧤 Hat and 2 x gloves

🥵 Spare insulating layers

💧 Water and snacks

🔦 Head Torch & spare batteries

💦Gaiters : Optional but advised

🆘 Bivvy Bag: optional but adviseable (these will be available to purchase before the hike)

Are you ready for an adventure? You will get a guided hike with qualified and experienced mountain leaders who are outdoor first aid trained and will be carrying first aid and emergency equipment for your safety.

🐾 NO DOGS : Whilst we are a dog friendly community asking group, unfortunately due to land owner resrictions there will be no dogs on this hike.

When you book a place, we also plan the number of guides to participants around those bookings. To keep things fair and sustainable for everyone, please take note of our cancellation policy:

CANCELLATION POLICY:

IF WE CANCEL OR POSTPONE an event for any reason, you will have the option of:

1. Completing your activity on a rescheduled date

2. Receive a full refund.

IF YOU CANCEL:

If you notify us with over 14 days notice of the event start date credit will be given that you can use against other events. Within 14 days notice of an event there is no credit given and we do not offer exchanges/transfer of your ticket onto another event.

RESCHEDULED EVENT

If an event is rescheduled and you agree to the new date, your booking is transferred to the new event and this cancellation policy will apply to the rescheduled date.

*PLEASE NOTE: Due to the nature of the events we provide and the environments these take place in, hikes will not be cancelled simply because of bad weather. However they will be cancelled by us if bad weather deems the event dangerous or unsuitable In this instance we will get in touch to notify you.
Hikes are subject to minimum group numbers being reached. In the event that this does not happen, you will be notified and offered a full refund, or the opportunity to be transferred onto a different event Or a credit held.
