What is the Summer Cereal Drive (SCD)?
The Summer Cereal Drive is an annual food and fund drive hosted by the Arkansas Foodbank in partnership with THV11. In 2000, TV anchor Tom Brannon, with his signature cherub-like enthusiasm, approached the Arkansas Foodbank with the idea of addressing summer hunger. No one expected the drive to last more than a few years, but it collected a cult following and quickly became one of the best-known fundraising events in the state! Fast forward to 2025, and as Arkansas has been named the #1 state in the nation for food insecurity, this event is more crucial than ever!
In Arkansas, 1 in 4 children face hunger, and with schools out for the summer, many kids lose access to critical meals like breakfast.
The Summer Cereal Drive helps address this need by collecting cereal and funds that are distributed to our 400 partner agencies, including summer feeding programs, backpacks for kids, and community food pantries.
How Can You Help?
- Register Your Team: Gather your friends, family, religious or social groups, colleagues, and more. Create a team & sign up to be part of the Summer Cereal Drive fundraising effort! Rally your networks to raise both funds and boxes of cereal for the Arkansas Foodbank.
- Compete for Glory: Compete within your group’s division to be the top fundraiser and win a "cerealously" awesome trophy (plus bragging rights)!
- Spread the Word: Share your participation in the Summer Cereal Drive on social media and invite your friends to join in!
